“Spring watch” on your doorstep!
Who needs BBC Springwatch when you can be part of round the clock interaction with nature and wildlife right on your doorstep…
We love our little farm of 22 acres, which envelopes us in a horseshoe so we are completey surrounded by our own land… only a little farmstead compared to our days in the past farming full time on 400 acres, however there is lots of care that goes into what we do and we just love it…
Watching the swalllows dipping, the dragonflies baiting and the newly hatched ducklings and goslings is just the start…
EASTER time brings new born lambs and you might be lucky enough to see one born, an interesting talking point with toddlers!
We have mallard and tame ducks, a regular visiting pair of Canada geese who love pollaughning so much they come back each year to hatch their eggs… then there’s the buzzards, kestrels, barn and tawny owls, badgers, foxes, and even the odd visiting deer… we can’t promise you’ll see everything while here but they are all about.
We have put up lots and lots of bird boxes and created a wildlife lake and nature area… planting over 400 trees in the last 10 years…
This is all yours to share while you are here… come and enjoy what nature gives us…
Animals, Eggs and the daily routine loved by all!
Memories so special that children will remember forever… their holiday here, and the animals they grow to love.
It’s not just the little daily routine and absolute pleasure children get… but the confidence they get from coming around each day and even the most reticent child, over the week, will find new confidence with the animals and their new friends.
We know how much children love the daily animal round and being able to have the freedom to go and say hello to Philip our donkey or have a giggle watching the ducks waddling around.
It’s the reason so many children return and its the bit we love to do.
Farmer Tim will meet everyone about 9.15 each morning (yup…7 days a week) and for about 15 minutes we’ll take them off round to wake up the chickens and gather eggs, feed the ducks, say hello to Philip and Barney and watch and discover any new hatchlings on the lake.
Depending on the time of year there may be goslings, ducklings and baby moorhens. Easter time is lambing time so there may be bottles of milk to feed as well.
